A "Radical" Life
Striving to live a life less-ordinary.

Sitting in a coffee shop (ah, one of our favorite things in the world!), working on adoption paper work. Just finished filling out a form with 19 questions about how we plan on dealing with the whole "interracial family" thing. Crazy! I think it's going to surprise me after a short time, when people look at us funny. I think we're going to forget our child's not the same color as us...until someone says something or is unashamedly staring at us!

It's been a good few days. Amazing time of worship Sunday morning...dang, I love our band! How many other churches cover U2? Hmmm?

Oh, and my ma n' pa are showing up tomorrow! We're really excited to see them!!!

Here's a challenge for you for the next 24 hours. We just started a new series at church called "Servolution." Obviously, it's all about serving. I realized that I spend a lot of time focusing on serving with the big picture of my life, but that I'm not so hot at the little things. I want to spend my life doing little things for people every day - taking care of someone's trash for them at a fast food restaurant. Giving up my seat. Helping someone carry a heavy load. Whatever. Anything! So my challenge to you is to spend the next 24 hours doing things for other people. Put them ahead of yourself. And come back to this blog and tell us about your experience!

Ok, I'll start with liking the Colts to serve you. =)

Ha! I don't think it works that way James. You can't just start liking a team willie nillie...even though the Colts would be awfully easy to do that with. I'm just sayin'.

Tell your parents hi for me!! :)

Monday night, my roommate and I made dinner for a friend who had just started his first day of soccer preseason 2-a-days. He was completely exhausted after a looong day of training for soccer outside in the hot sun! He came over and layed on the couch drinking his gallon of water while we served him a nice dinner. He was so thankful!

This morning, I went through the Starbucks drive-thru and anonymously paid for the woman's coffee in the car behind me. I hope she was blessed :)

Thanks for this challenge and reminder about not forgetting the little things! I plan to continue working on this long after my 24 hours is up!

Cassie! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! Way to go! That's so cool.

I think you hit on something when you said, "I hope she was blessed."

We don't always know if things are making a difference when we serve. We HOPE so, but people don't always react the way we think they should when we try to do nice things.

Regardless, how can we NOT serve others? It's what we are clearly called to do! I think you definitely made a difference in the lives of those two people.

Keep it up!

WHY THE BLOG?

I'm striving to live a life less-ordinary. As followers of Christ our lives should not look like everybody elses. We should be more giving, more loving, more passionate, more sure, more...radical. But we're not. We blend in and desperately want to fit in. This blog is my journey toward to a "radical" life that doesn't look like the rest of the world.
