A "Radical" Life
Striving to live a life less-ordinary.

priorities...

It's 8:40 in the morning. I'm at work trying to process the bagillion tasks at hand. Erin has been trying to learn the whole screen-printing gig to make t-shirts and we're a bit behind the 8-ball (that's for you Erin). I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a design to actually make a t-shirt printing press. Yeah. And I really need to have it built by tonight, but I don't really know what I'm doing. In the meantime, we got a letter from our ever-so-helpful homeowners association saying that we've got to take care of the weeds in our yard by this weekend - which means a whole lotta work, and I'm thinking, "but I don't care about the weeds...God's kingdom is not going to be affected one bit if we leave the weeds." Ah, but our bank account will since they'll make us pay to have proffesionals come in and fix it if we don't! And I desperately need to figure out what the heck the youth group is going to be doing this Sunday and make all the preparations necessary. And I need to plan and prepare all the music for the 10th, the 17th, the 24th and the 31st, and figure out our band schedule for June and July (a daunting task!). And I've got to learn 6 new songs and type them up in preparation for Colorado...did I mention I'm leaving for Colorado in 2 weeks?

We don't even have kids! How did my life get so hectic?!?

I'm struggling with the whole balance thing today. I KNOW that all that really matters is that God is who He says He is. His grace is real. And He never changes and He's never going away. And relationships...they matter. My relationships with my wife, my family and friends. So, it's not that all the things I have to do aren't important, it's just that they're not AS important as...hang on...

So I just got a phone call from a friend who needed to talk and someone to pray with them. It lasted about 1/2 hour. And you know what? THAT was time well spent.

May we all be reminded today of what's really important and what isn't.

Hey, my friend. I've been reading your blog (My mac is amazing, I discovered RSS feed and use it for all the blogs I read!) and I'm liking what I see :) I need to catch you up on the past couple of weeks of ministry. It's been insane.

My good friend, the worship minister had to resign. His marriage is in the process of ending. That left me with Adult Worship, High School worship, and Middle School worship. Three weekly services! It's been intense. And I was given charge of the college age small group that he was in charge of. And I've been trying to help my hurting friends while they end their marriage. It's been a mess.

AND!! My guitar was stolen from church. Yes, my taylor, Louise. So needless to say, I ask God over and over why he brought me here.

But reading that everyone has a lot on their plate, like you, helps. It makes me feel like I'm not the only person with a crazy busy ministry.

I'm praying for you, buddy!

WHY THE BLOG?

I'm striving to live a life less-ordinary. As followers of Christ our lives should not look like everybody elses. We should be more giving, more loving, more passionate, more sure, more...radical. But we're not. We blend in and desperately want to fit in. This blog is my journey toward to a "radical" life that doesn't look like the rest of the world.
